The steel filters are silica sand filters designed for use in larger package treatment plant projects.. The filters can be manufactured out of epoxy coated mild steel or stainless steel. The filters are available in 3 sizes – a smaller unit 1 800 mm in diameter, a 2 200 mm diameter unit and a 2.6 m diameter filters. The filters are of application in potable water treatment and in industrial effluent treatment. The backwash sequence designed includes an air scour facility that improves the effectivity of the backwash process and helps to prevent mudballing and channelling.
